Myka ION Software

Myka has always been about making complex things easier.  Here is a recent review of our original Myka player.  Myka ION takes the same approach.  We've added the ability to use other media tools like Boxee and XMBC while keeping the experience simple and uncluttered.

Myka ION can run applications usually found only on full PCs.  Here are a few examples of applications running on the new Myka.  All these screen shots were taken directly off a Myka ION using a linux screen capture utility called Shutter.

Boxee

Boxee, the star aggregator of on-line content and social media,  runs flawlessly on the Myka ION. Boxee also makes use of Myka's graphic processor to play back content.  It will synchronise with other copies of Boxee running on other computers.  Since it works with Myka's remote control, Boxee gives you a great home entertainment experience.

XBMC

XBMC is a popular open source media management system.  It lets you access media files on your computer and across your home network.  It has recently added support for the ION graphic processors.  The interface has several 'skins' available.  XBMC and Myka ION make a great combination.

hulu Desktop (beta)

Hulu has just released a beta version of a desktop application for the Hulu website.  We've been testing it on Myka. Hulu desktop is designed for a living room experience as well.  In the next few months Adobe will be releasing Flash 10.1 which will have support for the ION graphic processor. We expect to see several of these desk top applications.

Operating System

Myka ION currently ships with Ubuntu 9.10.  This is a full installation.  Expert users can escape the Myka interface and work directly with Ubuntu. 

Myka ION also has a Windows 7 dual boot option.  This lets you run services like NetFlix and CinemaNow.
