Open Source Hardware
The Myka interface is actually downloaded from our servers. We will be allowing developers to create their own accounts and build applications that can be downloaded to Myka. Think of it like iPhone applications for an IPTV set top box. Some of these interfaces and applications may find their way into the commercial version. We want people to create their own channels, complete with a custom user experience. Interfaces can be built in HTML with calls to our middleware made from JavaScript. We will provide calls to communicate with the BitTorrent engine, the native video playback and the file system. For developers we will give full access to the Linux OS running underneath everything. We will leave telnet, FTP etc. running. And no, this won't void your warranty.
The Hardware
So watch the developers section and our blog for updates. |

Now that Myka is in production, we thought we would talk a little about what sets us apart from some of the other IPTV platforms. Myka is taking a truly open source approach to its software. We will be providing more detail in the coming weeks in the developers section. We will be making public the API's to our middleware as well as letting developers create their own interfaces.
Myka is built on a state of the art system on a chip (SOC). The Sigma Designs SMP 8635 is truly amazing. We have published more of the specs in the developers section. Your files will play back beautifully in high def, all the way up to 1080p. We've been showing you the pretty outside for months. We tore one open to show you the insides.
